Founded in 1973, the Management Research Institute (MRI) now comprises of more than 40 CBS faculty members. It currently carries out theoretical, empirical, and application-oriented research in all branches of management. The institute was established to promote academic research and to facilitate dialogue with industrial and business communities.

Each year, the institute organizes an “Annual International Conference” by inviting prominent domestic and foreign scholars who are working at the cutting edge of business researches. In addition, the institute selects the winner of “Cham Manager Award”.

The award is given to high level executives who contribute to the development of industry and national economy through innovative and ethical management. Fourteen prominent high-level executives of Korean corporations have been recognized by the award.
