MS/Ph.D. Programs
In addition to MBA, CBS offers graduate level academic degree programs, Master of Science and Ph.D. in Business Administration. The degrees are conferred by the Dean of Graduate School, but all activities related to teaching and administration are carried out by the CBS faculty and staff members. Graduate level business education at Chung-Ang University started in 1953 when the Division of Commerce was established at the Graduate School. The Division of Commerce was renamed the Division of Business Administration in 1965. The Division is currently offering two concentrations; Business Administration and Accounting.
Both MS and Ph.D. programs at CBS are highly selective and put much emphasis on academic excellence and quality research. Students with bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualifications are accepted for master’s degree programs. Outstanding academic performance during undergraduate study is an essential ingredient required for successful applicants. CBS does not require applicants to have a bachelor’s degree in business or management, but asks them to pass several undergraduate core courses after they are accepted. Students should pass subject exams and write a thesis in the field of his or her own choice under the supervision of faculty members.
For Ph.D. programs, applicants should have a master’s degree or equivalent qualifications. Outstanding academic performance during undergraduate and master-level graduate studies - along with notable potential for future academic achievement - are the most important factors in the admission decision by the faculty.
